Five Spice Braised Pork Belly
There’s nothing better than old-fashioned Chinese comfort food. At No Frills today, I purchased some pork belly and immediately thought about making Braised Pork Belly with Chinese Five Spice, a popular Asian dish currently trending on Instagram. In no way was I influenced by the other food bloggers – this was inspired by a family recipe my mom always made at home. There is something about braised pork belly: it’s versatile, budget-friendly, and very delicious. I like it with rice, sandwiches, and lettuce wraps.
How to Make Five Spice Braised Pork Belly
After cutting the pork belly into two-inch strips, marinate them in soy sauce, cooking wine, honey, brown sugar, sweet chilli sauce, and Chinese Five Spice for two hours. If you don’t have the Chinese Five Spice, substitute it with ground cinnamon. In a pot of water, blanch the pork belly pieces to eliminate impurities. For two hours and 30 minutes, slow-cook the pork belly in the oven at 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Once you remove this from the oven, you’ll get pork belly that’s tender and coated in a sweet decadent sauce. You’ll get addicted to this recipe.
