Delicious, home cooked meals for busy families

Sushi Class

Sushi Class

I don’t do much on Friday nights so instead of binge-watching Netflix and throwing myself a pity party,  I  signed up for a sushi making class. Let me tell you, it was a very interesting experience.

I’ve never made sushi in my life and boy was it hard. The instructor, Chef Russell was a good teacher and made the class fun and hands-on. Everyone in the class worked as a team and took turns using the stove. We each were assigned an array of vegetables to cook including carrots, mushrooms, onions, cucumbers, zucchinis and eggplant. Steak and salmon were also on the menu.

As an amateur homecook, I enjoyed learning new techniques in the kitchen like how to cut an onion without crying. I thought all I had to do was run the onion under cold water but that’s the misconception. All I had to do was chill the onions in the refrigerator and use a really sharp knife. I never cried at all once I sliced the onions. I honestly need more practice as the steak and mushrooms came out oozing from each end. I was mortified. LOL!! My sushi did taste great despite the appearance.

This class has inspired me to take even more cooking classes and learn from the top chefs. I had fun and enjoyed every minute of it.
